Stardust

Procedural worlds · real-time

Infinite planets. Cities in a few clicks.

Stardust generates whole planets and grows cities on them. Trace a limit on the ground, and the streets follow the land, stop at the coast and refuse the cliffs.

01 — How it works

From orbit to the kerb in three moves.

The planet’s own elevation is the city’s heightfield. Nothing is painted on afterwards: the ground decides where a street can go.

  1. Fly the planet

    01

    Fly the planet

A whole globe, generated from a seed. Continents, seas, mountains and climate, from orbit down to the ground, in one continuous flight.

  2. Trace a city limit

    02

    Trace a city limit

Draw a line freehand, or drop a circle or a box, then adjust it point by point. The streets are laid out to the edge you drew, and the site is saved for next time.

  3. Watch it grow

    03

    Watch it grow

Streets, blocks, districts and landmarks rise inside the line, under the real sun for that latitude, day and hour.

02 — Use cases

One world. Three industries.

The same planet serves a level designer, a cinematographer and an architect. Each takes a different thing from it.

A / Video games

Open worlds, blocked out in an afternoon.

Generate the planet, place your cities, export. Your team starts from a world that already makes sense, not from a grey plane.

  • GLB export of the built city, for any engine that reads glTF.
  • Four detail tiers, from block-out massing to full façades.
  • Deterministic seeds. Same number, same city, on every machine.
  • Planet layers, KTX2 textures and an XYZ tile pyramid for maps and minimaps.
  • Your own props in GLB, glTF, FBX or OBJ, placed in the city.

B / Film & VFX

Location scouting on planets that don’t exist.

Find the shot before the set exists. Walk the streets at eye level, move the sun, wait for dusk, all in the viewport.

  • A real sun for the site’s latitude, day of the year and hour.
  • Night, with street lamps and a city that lights up.
  • Walk mode for scouting at eye level, street by street.
  • Depth of field, ambient occlusion and grading in the live view.
  • Endless backdrops: neighbouring cities joined by freeways to the horizon.
Context and massing on ground that answers back.TERRAIN FIT · SUN PATH

C / Architecture

Context and massing on ground that answers back.

Test a scheme against a whole city: the slope, the coast, the sun path and the neighbours, before the first line is drawn.

  • Terrain fit: shoreline and upland controls decide how the plan meets the coast and climbs the hills.
  • Period, modern, brutalist and curtain-wall façades, worn by the age of each district.
  • Custom footprints and interiors with automatic layout.
  • Sun studies on the true solar path, for any place and date.
  • Material editor, markers and projects to annotate a proposal.

03 — In depth

Every parameter, in the open.

Stardust is a tool before it is a picture. Every city on this page came from a handful of controls, and every building in it can be opened, reshaped and furnished.

A / City limit

Draw any shape. The city fills it.

The same ground, the same seed, three limits. Streets, blocks and districts are planned to whatever edge you draw, and freeways find their way in from outside.

Freehand
Freehand Traced point by point, any outline you like.
Circle
Circle A radius round a centre: the quickest city there is.
Box
Box A rotated rectangle, for a grid that runs edge to edge.

B / Parameters

Same ground, a different city.

Density, seed, freeways and the hour are a click each. Choose a value and see the city it makes: every image here is the same site, rebuilt in the app.

Hour

Density and freeways rebuild the city. The seed lays out a new street plan. The hour and the day move the real sun.

C / Building design

Open any building and redesign it.

Click a building and its card opens: type, style, storeys, setbacks, roof, balconies and surfaces. Draw it a new footprint, tune a material on the building itself, or browse every model the city can make.

Building cardMaterialsFootprintLibraryWindows & doors

The building card: type and style, storeys and storey height, setbacks, roof, balconies and surfaces, applied straight to the live city.

D / Interior design

Floor plans that lay themselves out.

Choose a programme, from flats and offices to a house, and auto-layout divides the footprint into rooms, places the doors and furnishes them. Move any wall by hand, then walk in.

Two-bedroomOfficesHouse

A two-bedroom programme on a mixed-use floor: rooms, stair cores, doors and furniture placed by the auto-layout, and repeated on every storey.

04 — Infinite

Every seed is a new world.

Change one number and the continents move, the coastlines redraw, and a new planet waits to be traced. The map has no last page.
